Thabo Mogašwa
Founder & Facilitator, myaiskills
Background
Thabo brings nearly 30 years of digital transformation experience dating back to 1996 as a developer. He has progressed through roles as consultant, architect, and CTO, leading digitization initiatives for major South African institutions including UNISA, UJ, and the University of Limpopo - environments demanding reliable, scalable systems.
Over three decades, his work has focused on advancing digital agendas across higher education: building enterprise systems, migrating to cloud infrastructure, modernizing legacy platforms, and enabling institutional digital capabilities. These transformation projects laid the groundwork for the widespread adoption of digital-first approaches across these organizations.
AI is his most recent toolkit addition - integrated into his work about six months before launching this program. Rather than pursuing AI in isolation, he adopted it as a functional working partner within his broader digital transformation practice. He subsequently founded BuildABot Studio, a SaaS platform delivering conversational AI for institutional use, and now helps professionals integrate AI into their existing digital capabilities.
Why I Teach This
"My goal isn't to make you an AI expert - it's to make you AI-capable. You'll leave this program with skills you can use Monday morning."
This isn't about theory or academic abstractions. It's about practical application grounded in real-world experience. Every session is designed to give you tools you can immediately integrate into your work, just as I've done in mine.
Who I've Worked With
Over three decades, I've led digital transformation projects for institutions that demand reliability and scale:
- University of South Africa (UNISA) - Enterprise systems and digital infrastructure
- University of Johannesburg (UJ) - Technology modernization initiatives
- University of Limpopo - Digital transformation and cloud migration
- Higher education institutions across South Africa
- Enterprise digitization programs advancing organizational digital capabilities
These projects drove the adoption of digital-first approaches and laid the foundation for modern technology practices across these organizations. AI is now part of this ongoing digital evolution.
